2018

The 45th anniversay celebratory lunch was held on Saturday, 1st September 2018, at the Quartz Room, Victoria Park Golf Club, Brisbane.

Prior to the lunch Professor Laurie Walsh led an informative tour of the impressive Oral Health Facility at Herston , assisted by Inma Beaumont.

During lunch we had  individual closeup photographs taken by Phil ….

….  after lunch there were photos taken at a more flattering distance, outside the Quartz Room.

Following the lunch we were welcomed at the home of Chris and Dymphna Muir at Kelvin Grove, with Dymphna providing dinner, and Phil boistering the BYO with some red wines from his cellar.

DON ANNING ITALY

Hello Phil, I have to report a change of plans. Ann and I have been invited to a wedding in Italy in mid-September – the daughter of close friends. We have decided to make a bit of a trip of it and leave in August and hopefully catch some warm weather. Unfortunately that means we will miss the reunion which I was really looking forward to. Thought I should let you know straight away. Kind regards, Don

Thank you for your reminder.Due to time restraints I cannot make my decision till now . My wife is starting on two new small projects and now the launch on the second one seems likely to be on Sept 2 and also we are going on an extended holiday to Europe during my son’s summer holiday and won’t be back till August 30. Hence I regret to decline your kind invitation. May I ask if you would be kind enough to pass on my very best wishes to everyone “Good health and Enjoy life”. See you guys next reunion Kind regards Eric

GEORGE VASILIEV

Hello Ross. I did send a reply to Phil but not being computer literate [and I don’t want to be] maybe he didn’t get my reply. I won’t be able to make it unfortunately. Say hello to everyone who remembers me.

ANN COLLINS [Geoff McKellar]

Hi Phil.

Thank you so much for thinking of me! I am most touched. On September 1st I will be starting the Yuraygir Walk with friends; really looking forward to escaping from the city! So won’t be able to join you all but I am sure you will have a lovely get together! I took Geoff to a couple of my Guy’s hospital reunions and it is always great catching up after so long!   I am still working just 2 days a week and just minor operating; quite enough! Wisdom teeth don’t get any easier! This week I have one of Geoff ‘s patients from Westmead whom we looked after 30 years ago flowing multi-trauma … her jaw has resorbed over the years and I have to remove a prominent wire for her ! I took 3 months off end of last year and did a supported bike ride from Shanghai to Singapore! Yes a long way; 7320 kms!! All I could hear was Geoff saying to me “Annie what the bloody hell do you think you are doing??”…… but I am glad to say I did it all and never fell off once so think Geoff was my guardian angel !! Geoff’s grandchildren are all growing up quickly; I have just been in Singapore for 5 days where his son David works and the 3 there are doing well at the Australian International School while his daughter Katie is happily settled in Melbourne where her 2 kids are doing well and I will see them soon too…. Geoff would have been very proud of them all! It is over 5 years since he left us but it still seems like yesterday ! Have a great reunion and thanks so much for thinking of me …..appreciated.

Cheers Ann
